Two days after being exposed by the media, Pakistani Taliban commander Ehsanullah Ehsan’s account on social networking site LinkedIn remains active.
Ehsanullah Ehsan, the former spokesman for Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), now serves as the spokesman for TTP Jamaatul Ahrar, which split from the parent organization over leadership issue. The TTP Jamaatul Ahrar functions under Omar Khalid Khorasani, a leading jihadist commander, who recently sought to mediate between the Islamic State (ISIS) and Jabhat Al-Nusra in order to unite them under a single jihadi platform in Syria.
On his LinkedIn profile, Ehsan identifies himself as the spokesman of the TTP Jamaatul Ahrar, which is listed his employer. Ehsan also has a real picture of himself as his profile. On his profile, the jihadist commander notes: “I am a Mujahid and I openly say and do the things that annoy enemies of Islam.”
Ehsan adds: “I invite the non-Muslims to explore into the light of Islam and I incite the Muslims to wage jihad against the man-made laws [such as democracy].” It should be noted that the TTP Jamaatul Ahrar has been successful in recruiting some British youths recently. In one case, a former Pakistani military doctor, Tariq Ali, who was based in London, joined the group in the summer of 2014.
