Jihadi Cleric Suggests ISIS Supporters Use Twitter As The Secondary Platform For Publishing Their Materials After Shumoukh Al-Islam

On April 6, 2015, the Shumoukh Al-Islam forum published a letter by Sheikh Abu Al-Hassan Al-Azdi, a writer on the forum and a supporter of the Islamic State (ISIS), in which he called upon ISIS supporters to use the forum as their “launching base” before using Twitter.

Al-Azdi’s recommendation comes on the backdrop of the flagging and shutdown campaign against ISIS supporters’ Twitter accounts. In the last several months, ISIS opponents and proponents have engaged in back and forth campaigns against each other for dominance of Twitter. ISIS supporters have nonetheless showed resilience against those campaigns.
