Global Islamic Media Front’s Telegram Account Glorifies And Justifies Jihad And Martyrdom By Al-Qaeda Factions In Somalia, India And Syria

The Global Islamic Media Front (GIMF) is an Al-Qaeda-affiliated media company that provides media support and propaganda for jihadis. GIMF launched its Telegram channel on January 30, 2016, and has taken advantage of the platform to share its material. [1]

The content distributed by this organization documents the exploits of Al-Qaeda affiliated groups such as the Turkestan Islamic Party (TIP) and Jabhat al-Nusra (JN) in Syria, Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), and Al-Shabaab in Somalia. In addition to the materials supporting Al-Qaeda activities, the channel also links to GIMF’s Twitter accounts. It is also devoted to documenting dead “martyrs” from various Al-Qaeda branches worldwide.

GIMF’s Telegram channel has been used to advertise the groups Twitter accounts, which share the its videos, pictures and press releases. While many of the accounts have been shut down by Twitter, GIMF has managed to maintain a consistent online presence.
