Australian Jabhat Fateh Al-Sham Cleric Tweets PGP Key For Encrypted Communication

On August 19, 2016, Mostafa Muhammad, AKA Abu Sulayman Al-Muhajir, a leading Jabhat Fateh al-Sham (formerly Jabhat Al-Nusra) cleric and member of the organization’s Shura council, tweeted a PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) public key for people interested in secure encrypted communication with the group.

Also found in Al-Muhajir’s Twitter bio is an email address for, a free email service that frames itself as independent and privacy-oriented.


As previously reported by MEMRI JTTM, Al-Muhajir is a U.S. Treasury Department specially designated terrorist with JFS who has long been active on social media. On June 5, 2016, Al-Muhajir created a Telegram channel that has 706 members as of July 18, 2016. On Telegram, Al-Muhajir often presents himself as accessible, as interested parties can submit questions for him to answer on his channel.
