Al-Qaeda-Affiliated Media Company Global Islamic Media Front (GIMF) Creates Telegram Channel For Jihadi Content Related To Indian Subcontinent

August 10, 2016

On August 4, 2016, the Al-Qaeda-affiliated Global Islamic Media Front (GIMF) announced on its Telegram channel that it had launched a special channel, titled “GIMF Subcontinent,” which will focus on disseminating content pertaining to the Indian subcontinent. GIMF attributed the move to the need to increase its outreach (da’wa) efforts to people in that region, as well as the increased influx of jihadi-related content pertaining to that region.

The new jihadi media entity will include Al-Qadisiyyah Media and the GIMF Bangla Team, both offshoots of GIMF that have been releasing Al-Qaeda and other jihadi related content over the past several years.

As of August 9, 2016, GIMF Subcontinent, which is a public Telegram channel, has 263 members.
