Turkish Hacker Defaces Arizona State Websites

July 6, 2016

On July 1, 2016, it was reported that Turkish hacker “aLem!” defaced the official website of Arizona State, the Arizona House of Representatives and the Arizona State Legislature.  The hacker replaced the home page of all three websites with his own message against the United States and the logo of Eskişehirspor, a Turkish soccer club.  The defacement was noted to be similar to one carried out against the South Yorkshire Police website, in which Albanian hackers left a logo of their soccer club.  The hacker has apparently been conducting defacements since 2007, but this one is believed to be one of his biggest ever.  aLem! has been known to work with infamous Turkish hacking group Turk Hack Team.
