Syrian Electronic Army Conducts Major Cyber-Attack On Media Websites

On November 27, 2014, the Syrian Electronic Army (SEA) – a pro-Assad hacker group – conducted a series of cyber-attacks against major media websites including Forbes, The Independent, The Chicago Tribune, Daily Telegraph, London Evening Standard, CNBC, PC World, and the website for the National Hockey League (NHL), among others. The attack included Thanksgiving-style popups informing of the attack. The SEA posted several screenshots related to the attack on their official Twitter account (@official_SEA16), as well as graphics mocking the hacked websites, and a list of all targets (see below).
