Iran Unveils Native Instant Messaging App

On February 5, 2016, the Iranian Broadcast Company IRIB unveiled a new instant messaging app named Soroush, available for desktop, iOS, and Android in both English and Farsi.

Soroush was made in Iran and is similar to the popular WhatsApp service, allowing chat, voice calls, push-to-talk, and also private and group channels. The app also includes specially designed “Islamic emoticons.”

There is currently no info on the security features of the new app.
