Iran Orders Messaging App Companies To Store Citizen Data Inside The Country

The Iranian government recently issued a directive to all foreign messaging and social media apps operating in Iran to move all ‘data and activity’ associated with Iranian citizens onto servers inside Iran. The companies have one year to comply with the directive. Last year, Iran blocked Telegram and several other social networking apps for refusing to provide citizen data to the authorities.
